Benjamin Dwyer

Benjamin Dwyer je skladatel, kytarista a výrazný propagátor současné hudby a free jazzu. Z jeho nedávných prací jmenujme: Umbilical, napsanou pro Mayu Homburger, Barryho Guye a Davida Adamse – jde o verzi Krále Oidipa o devíti větách, která letos vyjde u vydavatelství Diatribe records. Tamtéž vycházejí Scenes from Crow na motivy básnické sbírky Teda Hughese. Twelve Études pro kytaru (nahrál je sám autor u Gamelan Records) jsou podle Fabia Zanona “shrnutím celé jedné kytarové epochy”. Imagines obesae et aspectui ingratae byly napsány pro violistu Gartha Knoxe a vyjdou v květnu u New Dublin Press, současně bude vydána limitovaná edice tištěných partitur. Premiéra Nocturnal v podání ansámblu The Fidelio Trio se chystá na říjen do londýnského King’s Place. V roce 2014 Dwyer vystoupil na podzimním jazzovém festivalu v Krakově spolu s Barry Guy’s Blue Shroud Band. V současné době působi jako profesor hudby na Middlesexské univerzitě.

Benjamin Dwyer is a composer, guitarist and a major exponent of contemporary music and free jazz. Recent compositions and performances include: Umbilical, written for Maya Homburger, Barry Guy and David Adams, a nine-movement version of Oedipus Rex, which will be released by Diatribe records in 2015. Scenes from Crow, after Ted Hughes’s Crow sequence, appears on Diatribe Records. Twelve Études for guitar (recorded by the composer on Gamelan Records) has been described by Fabio Zanon as the ‘summation of an entire guitar epoch’. Imagines obesae et aspectui ingratae written for violist Garth Knox will be released alongside a limited edition lithograph publication of the score in May (New Dublin Press). The Fidelio Trio will première Nocturnal at King’s Place London in October. Dwyer featured as a performer in the Krakow Autumn Jazz Festival 2014 with the Barry Guy’s Blue Shroud Band. He is currently Professor of Music at Middlesex University’s School of Media and Performing Arts.

Phil Shoenfelt

Phil Shoenfelt je britský hudebník, básník a romanopisec, který od roku 1995 žije v Praze. Je veteránem britské a newyorské punkové a post-punkové scény a na počátku 80. let byl frontmanem newyorské kapely Khmer Rouge. K dnešnímu datu mu vyšlo celkem 15 CD u různých nezávislých nahrávacích labelů, stejně jako několik EP desek a singlů. Mimo svou hudební tvorbu Phil publikoval také čtyři knihy: Junkie Love; The Green Hotel; Stripped – Book One; a Magdalena – Books One & Two (ve spolupráci s Kateřinou Piňosovou). Junkie Love nejprve vyšla v českém překladu jako Feťácká láska a mezi českými čtenáři se stala jakousi kultovní knihou. V angličtině poprvé vyšla v nakladatelství Twisted Spoon Press a záhy se dočkala ocenění Firecracker Alternative Book Award (New York, 2002). V současnosti Phil pracuje na knižní trilogii s názvem Stripped, zasazené do New Yorku konce 70. a začátku 80. let. Stripped se odehrává na pozadí rockových klubů jako CBGBs a v násilím a drogami zamořených ulicích Alphabet City, kde vypravěč žije se svou manželkou, striptýzovou tanečnicí. Vtahovaný maelstromem sexu, heroinu a zkaženého jednání, vypravěč pochybuje o všem a nakonec neuvěří ničemu. Je to dlouhá cesta až na samé dno, během níž se přihodí mnoho bizarních a magických událostí. Philova tvorba se také objevila v periodicích a antologiích jako je Gargoyle, Prague Literary Review, The Return of Král Majáles, Optimism, Hele, Blatt, The Outlaw Poetry Network, From A Terrace In Prague, Erotika – Drogen und Sexualita, Apple Of The Eye, Morgana, Vlna a Vlak.

Phil Shoenfelt is an English musician, poet and novelist who has lived in Prague since 1995. He is a veteran of the UK and New York punk and post-punk scenes, and during the early 1980’s was frontman for the New York band Khmer Rouge. To date he has had a total of 15 CDs released on various independent record labels, as well as several Eps and singles. In addition to his music, Phil has had four books published: Junkie Love; The Green Hotel; Stripped – Book One; and Magdalena – Books One & Two (a collaboration with Kateřina Piňosová). Junkie Love was first published in Czech translation as Feťácká Láska, and has become something of a cult book for Czech readers. The book was published for the first time in English by Twisted Spoon Press, and went on to win a Firecracker Alternative Book Award (NYC, 2002). At present, Phil is working on a trilogy of books called Stripped, set in late 70s/early 80s New York. Stripped is set against a backdrop of rock clubs like CBGBs, and the violent, drug-infested streets of Alphabet City, where the narrator lives with his striptease dancer wife. Sucked into a maelstrom of sex, heroin and bad behaviour, he questions everything and ends up believing in nothing. It’s a long way down to the bottom, and many bizarre and magical things happen en route. Phil’s writing has also appeared in publications and collections such as Gargoyle, Prague Literary Review, The Return of Král Majáles, Optimism, Hele, Blatt, The Outlaw Poetry Network, From A Terrace In Prague, Erotika – Drogen und Sexualita, Apple Of The Eye, Morgana, Vlna and Vlak.

DISGRACE – „skutek, osoba nebo věc, která vzbuzuje stud, výčitky, či nemilost, případně je hanebná či ostudná“.

Sophia Disgrace je modelka, herečka a performerka žijící v Londýně. Její tvorba vyšla v celé řadě periodik a opakovaně bývá v souvislosti se svou hereckou kariérou zmiňována na serveru IMDB. Pravidelně vystupuje po celém světě a je také vystavovanou výtvarnicí a vydávanou spisovatelkou.

Damien Ober

Damien Ober je spisovatel a scénárista. Jeho tvorba vyšla v časopisech The Rumpus, NOON, Confrontation, B O D Y Literature, The Baltimore City Paper, VLAK a port.man.teau.  V roce 2002 se stal jedním z vítězů literární Ceny Sherwooda Andersona (Sherwood Anderson Award) a v roce 2012 byl nominován na literární cenu Pushcart Prize.  Jeho scénář Randle is Benign byl v roce 2013 vybrán do každoročního přehledu nejlepších dosud nezrealizovaných scénářů The Black List. V roce 2008 Damien Ober kandidoval za město Washington na post stínového senátora. Jeho románový debut Doctor Benjamin Franklin’s Dream America vyšel loni v nakladatelství Equus Press.

Rick Reuther

Rick Reuther se narodil v Hamburgu a studuje na vídeňské škole Institut für Sprachkunst. Na projektech na rozhraní textu, zvuku, videa a performance spolupracoval mezi jinými s Danielou Seel, Christianem Filipsem a Ole Hübnerem. Jeho tvorba vyšla například v časopisech Edit či Block. Je redaktorem gestaltpdf.com, Babelsprech.org a spoluvydavatelem časopisu JENNY.

Rick Reuther was born in Hamburg, studies at the Institut für Sprachkunst Wien. He has collaborated on projects moving between text, sound, video and performance, for example with Daniela Seel, Christian Filips and Ole Hübner. His writing has appeared among others in Edit and Block. He is an editor of gestaltpdf.com, Babelsprech.org and a co-publisher of the magazine JENNY.

Martin Poch

Martin Poch (Ostrov, 1984) vystudoval obor estetika-komparatistika na FF UK v Praze, žije a pracuje v Motole jako tvůrce e-learningových lekcí, dosud vydal dva díly básnické tetralogie – Běhařovská lhářka (Concordia, 2009) a Jindřich Jerusalem (dybbuk, 2013). Třetí díl, Cesta k lidem, je v přípravě.

Martin Poch (born in Ostrov, 1984) has studied Aesthetics and Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, and currently lives in Motol, Prague, where he works as a creator of e-learning courses. Two parts of his planned poetry tetralogy – Běhařovská lhářka (Concordia, 2009) and Jindřich Jerusalem (dybbuk, 2013) – have already been published. The third part, Cesta k lidem, is in the works.

Stratocluster

Stratocluster je pražský improvizační soubor založený v roce 2013. Postupně se více zaměřili na multimediální rysy improvizace, do své práce zapojují zejména meotary, které umožňují spontánní, intuitivní improvizaci napříč různými médii, rovněž experimentují s textem, osvětlením a divadlem. V roce 2014 vystupovali mj. na festivalech Alternativa, vs. Interpretation a Ruins of Intolerance, v roce 2015 vydali lo-fi kazetu “jabka hrušky meotary” u vydavatelství Meteorismo. V květnu 2015 vydají u vydavatelství polí5 album.

Jejich vystoupení bude sestávat ze tří skladeb Iana Mikysky v provedení Stratoclusteru. První z nich, znepokojivou A House for Hanne Darboven (věnovanou německé umělkyni Hanně Darboven), otextoval Louis Armand. Vystoupí s ní zpěvačka Lucie Páchová, na kytaru ji doprovodí Ian Mikyska. Druhá skladba Contrabass-Contrabassist je sólo pro kontrabasistu a performera Ondřeje Komárka za doprovodu meotaru, a poslední skladbu Translace předvede celý ansámbl Stratocluster. Jde o koncert pro jeden hlas doprovázený sborem, sólový part zpívá Lucie Páchová. Do poslední skladby bude zapojen meotar a čtyři stroboskopy.

Stratocluster is a Prague-based improvisation ensemble founded in 2013. Since then, it has gradually come to focus more on multimedia aspects of improvisation, working most notably with overhead projectors as tools for direct, intuitive improvisation across media, as well as working with text, theatricality and lighting. In 2014, they performed at the Alternativa, vs. Interpretation, and Ruins of Intolerance festivals, among others, and in 2015 they released a lo-fi casette “jabka hrušky meotary” (apples, pears and overhead projectors) on the Meteorismo label. Their album on the polí5 label is set to be released in May 2015.

The program will feature three pieces by Mikyska performed by members of Stratocluster. The first, A House for Hanne Darboven, with text by Louis Armand, is an uncomfortable dedication to German artist Hanne Darboven, performed by vocalist Lucie Páchová and Ian Mikyska on prepared guitar. The second, Contrabass-Contrabassist is a solo dedication for double-bassist and performer Ondřej Komárek, aided by an overhead projector, and the final piece, for all the members of Stratocluster, Translace (Translation) is a concerto for voice and voices, with a solo part for Lucie Páchová, which makes use of an overhead projector and four stroboscopes.

Ian Mikyska

Ian Mikyska je skladatel, překladatel, básník a režisér, pochází z České republiky. Ač jeho práce zpravidla tak či onak souvisí se zvukem, s oblibou ke zvuku přistupuje z různých pomezních oblastí: zabývá se zvukem ve vztahu k textu, světlu a projekcím, na divadle i mezi různými jazyky. Studuje na Guildhall School of Music & Drama a poslední rok strávil na stáži v Centru audiovizuálních studií na pražské FAMU. Věnuje se také překladu současné české prózy a poezie do angličtiny.

Ian Mikyska is a composer, translator, poet and director from the Czech Republic. Though his work is usually connected with sound in some way, he likes to approach it at the edges; sound in text, in light and projection, on the stage, or between languages. He is a student at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and has spent the last year on a residency at the Centre for Audiovisual Studies at the Film Academy in Prague. He is also active as a translator of contemporary Czech prose and poetry into English.

Nóra Ružičková

Nóra Ružičková (1977, Bratislava) vyštudovala maľbu a grafiku na Vysokej škole výtvarných umení, kde od roku 2009 vyučuje na Katedre intermédií a multimédií.

Ako umelkyňa je aktívna v oblasti vizuálneho umenia a literatúry. Vo svojich výtvarných projektoch využíva rôzne média a formy vyjadrenia, v posledných rokoch sa venuje najmä výskumu inštitucionalizácie a kategorizácie umenia a vzťahov obrazu a textu.

Publikovala päť básnických zbierok: Mikronauti (1998, Drewo a srd), Osnova a útok (2000, Drewo a srd), Beztvárie (2004, vlastným nákladom), Parcelácia vzduchu (2007, Modrý Peter), Pobrežný výskum (2009, Ars Poetica) a knihu experimentálnej poézie a prózy Práce & Intimita (2012, Aspekt).

Nóra Ružičková (born 1977, Bratislava) has studied painting and graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Bratislava, and since 2009 has been teaching there at the Department of Intermedia and Multimedia.

As an artist she is active in the fields of visual art and literature. In her visual arts projects she uses different mediums and forms of expression; in the last years she has been particularly interested in examining the institutionalization and categorization of art and the relationship between art and text.

She is the author of five poetry collections: Mikronauti (1998, Drewo a srd), Osnova a útok (2000, Drewo a srd), Beztvárie (2004, self-published), Parcelácia vzduchu (2007, Modrý Peter), Pobrežný výskum (2009, Ars Poetica) and the book of experimental poetry and prose Práce & Intimita (2012, Aspekt).

Morgan Childs je americká spisovatelka a redaktorka. Během studia na Barnard College Kolumbijské univerzity obdržela cenu Helen Prince Memorial Prize a v rámci stipendia Dasha Amsterdam Epstein působila v institutu New York Stage and Film. V roce 2011 začala studovat magisterský studijní program v oboru anglický jazyk a kulturní studia na Karlově univerzitě v Praze. Je zakladatelkou a redaktorkou nově vzniklého periodika con•text, zaměřeného na osobní a experimentální knižní recenze.
